I join Popper and Company with a diverse background as an interventional cardiologist and a medical officer at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This history has given me a deep perspective on the development of medical technologies, and the importance of a multi-faceted, integrated approach to product development, evidence development, and market entry. My experience includes regulatory and reimbursement strategy, scientific and medical due diligence, market-entry planning, clinical trial design, and evidence development. I provide nuanced guidance to our clients by leveraging a large network of contacts in academia, industry, and government – including the FDA and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

At the FDA as a medical officer, I reviewed medical devices at the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) throughout the full product lifecycle. I also participated in public policy initiatives including the Entrepreneur-in-Residence Program in conjunction with CMS and the Reimbursement Task Force. Just prior to joining Popper & Company, I was the Chief Innovation Officer at a healthcare consulting firm, where I established the medtech practice, developed thought leadership, and consulted on multiple interconnected strategic areas.

I received my Doctor of Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and completed a residency in Internal Medicine and fellowships in General and Interventional Cardiology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. I completed an MBA at the Johns Hopkins Carey School of Business in the Business of Medicine Program.

I am a father of three and when I am not watching my children’s events, I enjoy outdoor sports including mountain biking and skiing.
